Meditation and Yoga Practice

There are a lot of ways to do meditation, and some are harder than others.  Most people can avail of some simple techniques which will help to combat everyday problems.

By applying meditation principles as you go about your daily life, you will begin to see significant changes being made around you.

Meditation is not just about sitting down and doing nothing.  In order to meditate correctly, the body and the mind must be perfectly relaxed and in tune with each other.when they’re in tune, the meditative process can begin.

Setting aside time for meditation.
Try to set aside two periods of 10 or 20 minutes a day to practice meditation, once in the morning and once in the evening if possible.  Choose a time when you’re not feeling tired, otherwise you may find yourself becoming sleepy.

For this reason try to avoid meditating just after meal times and before going to bed.

Try to establish a routine of the same time and place.  This will help make your meditation easier and more beneficial for you.

So try and find somewhere nice and quiet so that you will not be disturbed.  Take your phone off the hook and try to have picked a time when visitors will not disturb you.

To get comfortable you can sit on the floor are even use a cushion.  A straight backed chair is also good.

It is important to stay awake and alert, and keeping your back and head erect will help you in achieving this.

Lots of people like to use the lotus position. you start by sitting on the floor with your legs spread out in front of you, and then you bend one knee and bring your foot up onto the other thigh. Next you bring your other leg in, either under the opposite thigh which is the half lotus position, or completely over it, the full lotus position.

With practice you will get better but these positions are very difficult to begin with, so do not get discouraged.
